Rachel's mind couldn't hep but daydream about the idea of her surfing and skiing. Neither activities had been something she had ever thought about trying. Of course when it came to trying out a new style of dance or singing she would jump at the chance to learn a new skill but something more physical, she always backed away from. The idea of possible falling over and breaking something - most importantly her nose terrified her. However, thanks to Finn and he's not so hot dancing, that had already happened this year.
As Sky explained the whole Warblers part, Rachel nodded in agreement. There was no denying Kurt had an amazing voice but it must have come to as a bit of a blow for the Warblers that had been there a lot longer than Kurt for him to get a solo above all of them and not even have to audition for it. Still she had been thrilled for Kurt when he sang his duet with Blaine at the competition. She had been sure to cheer him on and was genuinely proud of him. Ever since the two had sneaked into the Gershwin theatre in New York and performed 'for good' she had it in her mind that Mr Schue needed to let the two of them perform something like that at the next competition.
"Well perhaps now that something new has been tried and Kurt is back in New directions with us, you guys will be getting some solos?" Rachel thought aloud and couldn't help but get excited at the thought of all the competitions that were coming up once again. She couldn't wait to get back into rehearsals and have something to focus on once again.
Stretching her legs out in front of her, Rachel pressed her back firmly against the tree and pulled her long brunette hair round she let out a small laugh at Sky. "No its cool Rachel, we have both been there. Its a club and we have t-shirts, I'll be sure to send you one.". "I'll be waiting for it" she grinned in response and listened to Sky say how he had found comfort in a bottle of JD. "I of course sang about it" she told him in an expectant tone. Everyone knew that about her. If Rachel had a problem, she would deal with it by singing about it.
At the mention of senior year, Rachel nodded slowly. Part of her was excited to leave high school behind and the other part of her was somewhat terrified. "Absolutely, I can't believe it's senior year already" she mused and then paused as she thought over Sky's words. "I think something big should definitely be done. You only graduate once" she added on and thought about the idea of doing something big and fun with friends..that was if she would have any friends by the time she graduated. She seemed to have a way of ruining them without even realizing she had done so. "So what are your plans after high school?" she asked wondering if the blonde had given it any thought.

Rachel listened intently as Sky began to explain to her the dynamics of how the Warbler's worked. She thought over the blonde's boys words and then nodded slightly. "Yeah, I remember him saying." she replied as she thought back to the time she had come across Kurt in the auditorium back when he had transferred. For Rachel, that was another one of the defining moments in her and Kurt's relationship. The fact that he had come to her for help meant more to her than he probably realised. So of course, she couldn't help but feel slightly guilty when he hadn't got the solo.
"I can't wait for competitions this year. I really feel that it's going to be great" she mused, her mind starting to become focused on her goal to make the glee club the best it could be. With it being her last year, Rachel wanted to go out with a bang. She was ready to make New Directions the best it could be, of course that would involve a small part of the extremely driven Rachel Berry to return but as Finn had pointed out not so long ago, that wasn't such a bad thing. It was that part of her that helped her in succeeding to write an original song, despite everyone shutting her down and disagreeing, she went ahead and did it - and they won. A small smile crept on her face as the victorious moment once again swam in her head.
Rachel let out a laugh as Sky told her his father would have preferred him to sing about it and she nodded while her face grimaced slightly as he mentioned the awful hang over that no-one ever prepared you for on the next day. "Myself and alcohol don't mix well" she grimaced and scrunched her nose up as memories of her first - and last - party flashed through her head. Kissing Blaine. The mess. The aftermath. The hangover. Rachel shuddered at the flashbacks. Of course the one good thing that came out of the party was her friendship with Blaine. The ice was pretty much broken after the pair locked lips, had a day old relationship and sang a duet.
As Sky began answering her question about his future, Rachel couldn't help but think over what her own answer would be. Though she didn't really have to think hard. The last month had pretty much confirmed everything for her. "Medicine? That's amazing" she smiled. Rachel admired anyone who was dedicated to devoted their lives to causes in the emergency field. At the mention of Julliard, Rachel's eyes lit up. That was one of her goals. If she wasn't successful in landing her big broadway break after high school, then Julliard was the next step. "Julliard is the place for me. It was clear after spending some time in New York that that is where I belong. Even if it was only a short visit" she told him with a wide smile. It was thanks to Kurt, insisting that they broke into the Gershwin theatre and then the pair being able to performing the hit song of Wicked on the stage, made everything clear to her.
Glancing up, Rachel frowned some what at the sky. Time was getting on and yet the heat was not letting up. Stretching her legs out in front of her, she carefully leaned her head back to rest on the tree. "I can't believe this heat isn't subsiding" she groaned and let out a small huff. After a few minutes, she turned her attention back to Sky. "So have you any other plans on this fine day?" she inquired, her eyes slightly squinted as the sun seemed to hit her directly. She didn't want the boy to feel like he had to stay and talk to her, especially if he had plans for later on.

As Sky mentioned that the Warbler's were more determined than ever to win Nationals this year, Rachel's mind went into over load as her mind filled with various songs, ideas and choreography that would give New Directions that extra edge in the competition ensuring them a win,all of course featured her to have a heavy lead role. Rachel, just as Blaine seemed to be wanted to win that national title, it was her last year in Glee club and she knew she had to leave on a high. Rachel Berry wanted to go down as a legend in New Directions. Rachel gave Sky a firm nod. "Oh don't you worry. New directions are going to pull out all the stops this year. I'll make sure of it" she said, a lightly competitive edge in her voice but she gave the blonde a smile.
Sky's description of alcohol won him a laugh from Rachel as she nodded her head in agreement. "That is true. So true" she confirmed as she one again shuddered at the thought of her last alcoholic experience.
The boys words of spending time with sick kids caused Rachel to give him a warm smile. She was touched to say the least, she found it hard enough to visit Finn's friend who had broken his spine during a football incident and had become permanently paralyzed from the waist down. Rachel didn't deal well with sadness but meeting him had given her a new perspective on things and she had been giving him singing lessons ever since - not that he needed it, he was extremely talented. It had pretty much soon just become the two of them singing a few songs for the hour that she was there.
"Absolutely" Rachel finally spoke out about New york as she let out a soft sigh. "Whatever happens, I know I'll be in New York. It's where I belong" she said dreamily. She was bought out of her thoughts by Sky speaking about the heat. Rachel frowned slightly as he commented that he was dressed for the weather but she was not. It was true. She definitely hadn't chosen the best outfit for the intense heat that was beating down on them.
Rachel's eyes lit up at the sound of ice cream. Nodding her head enthusiastically as she stood up from the ground and dusted her clothes down. She paused as she looked at Sky. "Absolutely! Although, I do hope they serve ice cream suitable for Vegans?" she inquired as she tilted her head slightly and awaited an answer. Rachel had already put in several complaints to many restaurants and other food places for not having a suitable menu for vegans.

As Sky spoke, Rachel nodded her head. She did have a lot of ideas for New Directions this year. Although, she always had plenty of ideas for the group, it was whether or not anyone would actually listen to them. Mr Schue as well as nearly all the members of the group would instantly dismiss her as soon as she opened her mouth to talk. It had seemed that Quinn had been the only one to come to the girl's defense over the idea for doing original songs and as it turned out, it got them to win. A satisfied grin appeared on Rachel's face and she let out a small laugh at Sky's words. The idea of enjoying senior year was a lot more appealing than panicking about it but for Rachel, senior year was too important for her to lose focus. If anything, she was determined to make herself go down as the star of McKinley.
At the mention of New York, Rachel glanced back to Sky. She knew it wasn't everyone's taste but for her the rush of the city life was where she knew she belonged. Of course Broadway was where knew she would end up but it had also been made clear to her that she was meant to live in New York no matter what. "Hawaii is a spectacular place I hear" she mused. She herself had never been but her Daddy had and he always spoke highly of the place, promising he would take Rachel one day.
As Sky asked if she was a vegan, Rachel took a step to begin to head in the direction of the ice cream parlor and nodded her head in response. About to take another step, she paused and turned, giving Sky a wide grin. "I should probably let you take lead, seeing as I have no idea which direction we need to go in" she said with a slight giggle and turned to fully face the boy and waited to see where she needed to walk. "So tell me, how did you discover this place?" she asked as she scooped her hair from her neck and placed it around one shoulder.

As the pair began to walk off towards the ice cream parlor, Rachel's face scrunched up as the intense heat once again began to beat down on her skin. Rachel loved the summer but this heat they were experiencing was beyond normal. No-one in their right mind could enjoy it, at least that was her thinking. As Skylar began speaking about Hawaii, Rachel half turned her head to glance at him. As she did, she began scooping her semi long hair in her hands. Being sure to get every piece, she worked her hands up and quickly placed the lot in a high ponytail and let out a sigh of relief as her neck began to cool slightly. Her relief was short lived however as various strands began to fall out from the high ponytail. Groaning slightly, she moaned at herself for feeling the need to get bangs.
As he mentioned about no-one over thirty..or even under should be seen in bermuda shorts, she snorted slightly and threw a grin in his direction. Of course she knew both her dad's would totally wear them and easily get in the spirit of all things Hawaiian. She loved the pair dearly and Rachel wasn't one for normally getting embarrassed but she could see that happening if they were to ever vacation there as a family.
When the blonde mentioned that they weren't far, Rachel once again smiled, a little too excited at the thought of being inside with the air con in a matter of moments. "Really?" she practically squealed but stopped as the boy had mentioned he'd found it while being in hospital. Rachel studied his face for a moment and lightly chewed down on her lip. Her head was telling her she should let it go but curiosity was getting the better of her. "Hospital jaunt?" she repeated as she kept her gaze on him for a few moments before lightly shaking her head. "I'm sorry if that's a little too personal, I don't mean to pry. I just sometimes forget boundaries and tend to ask questions that some deem to personal" she quickly added and then once again focused her attention in front and fell silent.

Glancing back up to the blonde, Rachel saw the sad smile he threw in her direction and she immediately knew that perhaps she had asked him to share something that was a little too painful. She could tell from his body language and reaction that it wasn't something as simple as an injury from dancing or even falling down some stairs, it was obvious there was a lot more to the memory.
As Sky began to explain to her, Rachel didn't even bother to try and hide her horrified expression as he relived the painful memory. The brunette's mouth parted open as she listened intently and couldn't believe what she was hearing. Tears began clouding her eyes at his words. It sickened her to hear that people would do that and for what? Growing up with two gay dad's wasn't easy but Rachel had always chosen to ignore the small minded people who couldn't see past it. Her father's were two amazing men and she had never wanted for anything, she had the perfect childhood but the main different for her was that she had never feared for her life. Sure she was used to vocal taunts but for her that was as far as it went. The brunette had never felt so afraid that she needed to run away, not like Kurt or Sky. Rachel had always hated that she couldn't do more for Kurt, she had tried standing up to David and the other bullies but there wasn't a lot that she could do.
Swallowing the lump in her throat, she paused her step and held her hand onto Sky's arm as he finished telling her what had happened. "I'm so sorry that happened to you" she said sincerely and a sad smile to match the blondes etched on her face. "No-one should have to go through that, everyone deserves to feel safe" she trailed off and let out a deep sigh. Glancing up, Rachel's eyes caught sight off a small little shop. With the hand that still hung onto Sky's arm, she tugged at it and used her free hand to point ahead. "Is that it?" she asked as her eyes fell upon to what she thought was the ice cream parlor. For some reason, it reminded her of something out of Harry Potter with a hint of Charlie and the chocolate factory thrown in. Her eyes glistened with childlike excitement as she looked back at the blonde. Even if it wasn't their intended destination she wanted to check it out. "Come on, let's go" she grinned as she attempted to pull the blonde towards the building.

As Sky continued to speak about his past and what had led him to Dalton, Rachel kept her head pointed down, glancing up every few seconds to look him in the eye so he would know she was listening. Truth be told she was feeling slightly ashamed. She had moments when she felt sorry for herself for the endless taunts she endured at McKinley but now she realised she was lucky. Of course bullying of any kind shouldn't be tolerated but she had never been in fear for her life like Sky and Kurt. The brunette couldn't imagine having to up and leave everything that she knew just to feel safe. It didn't seem right and it definitely wasn't fair to Sky but from what Rachel could tell, he seemed happy and that was all that mattered.
Noticing his liking for the change of topic, Rachel frowned lightly at his recommendation. "Lemon? Really?" she repeated and glanced over to the counter. Her eyes hovered over the menu, there was too much to choose from but at the moment she didn't care what it was, as long as it was something cold to cool her down. Shrugging her shoulders she smiled and turned to the blonde. "You know, today feels like a day to try new things" she mused and turned her attention back to the server. "A scoop of Lemon" she told him and then moved down towards the till. Paying the girl for both her's and whatever Sky chose, she picked up some napkins and glanced over her shoulder. "I got these...and I'm grabbing that table by the fan! she called out as she headed towards the two seater that was position right underneath a ceiling fan.
Picking up her spoon, Rachel scraped the smallest amount of ice cream on it and let it hover in front of her for a few seconds, almost as if it was some medicine an adult was forcing upon their child. Finally, she bought the spoon to her mouth and swallowed the ice cream. With widened eyes, she grinned like an excited toddler. "Oh my gosh, Sky, this is amazing! she gushed not even knowing if the blonde was anywhere near the table.
