This is the song she's singing. I imagine her voice to be similar to the lead's, only less rich and a little more breathy, since she's no professional when it comes to singing. Just kidding. Her voice sounds like this. It's Emily Browning singing "Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This" for SuckerPunch.
Come on, Remy. Sarah looked at her imploringly. As the girl began a rant on how it was utterly impossible for her to ever be on a stage, the two exchanged glances. It was impossible to get Remy out of her shell...[/blockquote]
Just promise us that some day you'll try. Ok, so maybe it was stupid. But, somehow, the thought of being in the glee club ... it just felt like keeping her friends with her. They were home, states away. Maybe by fulfilling her promise, she would be able to keep them close. Hands shivered as feet led her out onto the stage. Dear God, what am I doing?
Hi. ... I'm Remy. She swallowed, clasping hands together in effort to keep them still. Though that only sent the shaking into her arms. I mean ... Remember. Remember Scolfield. ... I'm here to ... uhm .... well ... audition?
A few breaths and the piano began the first few chords. Staring out at the seats, the knot began to build in her stomach. For a second her mouth went dry and she thought the world was about to end. Like a deer in headlights, Remy froze.
The piano began again, the same opening chords. A shudder swept through her, and she had to fight the urge to run off the stage. What was she doing? Did she really think she could sing in front of all these people? Tears of shame welled in her eyes, but she fought to hold them in. Forcing a deep breath, she heard the piano begin a third time.
I waited for you today
But you didn't show
No no no
I needed You today
So where did You go?
You told me to call
Said You'd be there
And though I haven't seen You
Are You still there?
I cried out with no reply
And I can't feel You by my side
So I'll hold tight to what I know
You're here and I"m never alone
And though I cannot see You
And I can't explain why
Such a deep, deep reassurance
You've placed in my life
We cannot separate
'Cause You're part of me
And though You're invisible
I'll trust the unseen
I cried out with no reply
And I can't feel You by my side
So I'll hold tight to what I know
You're here and I"m never alone
We cannot separate
'Cause You're part of me
And though You're invisible
I'll trust the unseen
I cried out with no reply
And I can't feel You by my side
So I'll hold tight to what I know
You're here and I"m never alone
The song ended, and Remember felt exhilarated. She had done it! With everything she had, she had sung; given it her all. And then she saw the eyes staring at her, and she froze once again.[/blockquote]
What was she doing? Two days after moving, she'd heard some teens talking about the auditions for New Directions. While the chatter hadn't exactly been kind in reference to the glee club, the mere existence of it piqued Remy's interest. It had been awful leaving home, and the memory of her best friends' faces filled her mind. You've got to try out, Rems. Out of the three of us, you're the best singer. Sarah smiled, finger pointing at the sign up sheet for the high school's choir.
Jen dug a pen out of her bag as she walked to the paper. You're always saying how much you love to sing. Here's your chance.
Before she could left the pen, Remy had snatched it away, shaking. Sing? In front of the school?? Are you CRAZY! I would die! Melt on the spot! There is no way I am signing up for the choir.
