Sydney sat in her seat next to her best friend Calin, wondering how she let him talk her into doing this. She hadn't sang since her parents kicked her out a year ago. She looked to her friend who was smling at her with a big giant grin. She rolled her eyes and looked ahead. It was then that her name was called. "Sydney Thomas? Your turn."[/i] She sighed and stood up. She made her way up to the stage and stood in front of the mic.
"Hi. My name is Sydney Thomas and I will be singing Think of Me from The Phantom of The Opera. I will be playing the part of Christine. Thank you." She looked to the piano player and nodded for him to begin playing. She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath before she opened her eyes in time to start singing.
"Think of me, think of me fondly,
when we've said goodbye.
Remember me once in a while -
please promise me you'll try.
When you find that, once again, you long
to take your heart back and be free -
if you ever find a moment,
spare a thought for me"
The whole time she looked at Calin who was smiling at her. He was the reason she was doing this. She smiled to him and continued singing, this time taking the mic from the holder and advancing on the stage, really beginning to perform.
"We never said our love was evergreen,
or as unchanging as the sea -
but if you can still remember
stop and think of me . . .
Think of all the things
we've shared and seen -
don't think about the way things
might have been . . .
Think of me, think of me waking,
silent and resigned.
Imagine me, trying too hard
to put you from my mind.
Recall those days
look back on all those times,
think of the things we'll never do -
there will never be a day,
when I won't think of you . . ."
It seemed to natural to her and she sang. It had really been a long time since she had sang in front of someone before. During a small piano solo she put the mic on the holder and danced a small ballet bit doing leaps and spins before picking the mic up again to sing. Her soprano voice filling the room.
"Flowers fades,
The fruits of summer fade,
They have their seasons, so do we
but please promise me, that sometimes
you will think of me!"
She climbed the scale with ease, reaching the glorious high note with no problem at all. She finished the song off, placed the song on the holder and smiled. "Thank you." She then walked off the stage and sat down next to Calin. She looked at him and smiled. "How was that?"
