This is so fucking weird... thought Callen as she approached the front entrance of McKinley High School. Never as a child had she ever thought she would leave New York. Of course, at that age, your hometown was the center of the universe, but even upon hitting middle school, she thought she'd be forever living in the Big Apple. Of course, she had dreams of traveling and had managed to get out a couple of times, but she thought she would always return to the place she considered home. And now here she was, in Lima, Ohio, where she was supposed to consider home now. The idea of a change of scene even for a year didn't upset her too much, but after settling in for two weeks prior to starting her senior classes, she thought she had seen it all. There wasn't much going on in this town and the kids must have known it. Nevertheless, she would give it a fair chance.
Now Cal wasn't one to dress to impress, but she did have some interest in clothing and had decided to opt for some short, ripped blue shorts and a loose plaid shirt buttoned apart from the top two, beige desert boots on her feet. Neat enough, which might change as she had to wake up early every morning for school and was not a morning person. Her canvas backpack was hanging precariously off her right shoulder as she made her way up the steps, stopping as the idea of a cigarette popped into her head, but she knew this wasn't the best spot for something like that. She'd had her regular morning one anyway on the backporch, something that bothered her mother but who let her do it anyway, hoping she would give up the disgusting habit without the pressure soon enough.
Cal looked around a bit at all the faces, but was thinking more about finding the administration office than people watching right now. It took her a good five minutes of wandering but she finally made it. The receptionist told her to take a seat and wait for further instruction, mainly her schedule and such since she was camping the date she'd been told to come in prior to school starting. She let her bag slip off her shoulder to the ground as she took seat in one of the few chairs dotted about, feeling like she was in a doctor's office. She made popping sounds with her lips as she glanced around and out the open doorway to the hallway, where people were making noise, greeting each other after a warm summer, or getting back to their bullying which she had already managed to witness. Not firsthand so far.
