[[ This is what I imagine Veronika’s voice to sound like this.
Go to about 0:30 in the song to hear her voice. ]]
Veronika stood nervously awaiting her turn. She wasn’t much of a singer. But she needed something else to get her mind off gymnastics at the moment so she decided that she would join glee club. She could play the guitar and the piano she at least she could be a bit of a help to the glee club.
’Veronika Lucas your up next. Please get ready.’ Said the little bald headed stage manager. ”Thank you.” Ronnie replied. Now the nerves were stating to kick in. But Ronnie needed to get over these nerves if she wanted to make it into the club. Ronnie picked up her electric guitar and slung it over her shoulder and wait in the wings for the girl with the amazing voice. Once she finished the whole auditorium exploded with applause. ’How can I follow that’ Ronnie thought to herself. ’Good luck’ said the girl as she walked past. ”Thanks I need all the luck I can get.”
Ronnie walked out on to the stage and looked around. She could see nothing. It was pitch black, like someone had turned every light in the auditorium off. Just like getting hit by a bus the spot light hit her. ’This was really happening.’ Ronnie thought to herself, ’I am going to have to sing in front of these people.’ ”Here goes nothing.” Ronnie mumbled to herself. ”Hello my name is Veronika Lucas. Today I will be singing ‘Back to December’ By Taylor Swift.” It wasn’t the song that she had been practicing for the last week. She was nervous and that was the first song that came to mind
’I'm so glad you made time to see me.
How's life? Tell me how's your family.
I haven't seen them in a while.
You've been good, busier than ever,
We small talk, work and the weather,
Your guard is up and I know why.
Because the last time you saw me
Is still burned in the back of your mind.
You gave me roses and I left them there to die.
So this is me swallowing my pride,
Standing in front of you saying, "I'm sorry for that night,"
And I go back to December all the time.
It turns out freedom ain't nothing but missing you.
Wishing I'd realized what I had when you were mine.
I'd go back to December, turn around and make it all right.
I go back to December all the time.
These days I haven't been sleeping,
Staying up, playing back myself leavin'.
When your birthday passed and I didn't call.
And I think about summer, all the beautiful times,
I watched you laughing from the passenger side.
Realized that I loved you in the fall.
And then the cold came, the dark days when fear crept into my mind
You gave me all your love and all I gave you was "Goodbye".
So this is me swallowing my pride
Standing in front of you saying, "I'm sorry for that night."
And I go back to December all the time.
It turns out freedom ain't nothing but missing you,
Wishing I'd realized what I had when you were mine.
I'd go back to December, turn around and change my own mind
I go back to December all the time.
I miss your tanned skin, your sweet smile,
So good to me, so right
And how you held me in your arms that September night --
The first time you ever saw me cry.
Maybe this is wishful thinking,
Probably mindless dreaming,
But if we loved again, I swear I'd love you right.
I'd go back in time and change it but I can't.
So if the chain is on your door I understand.
But this is me swallowing my pride
Standing in front of you saying, "I'm sorry for that night."
And I go back to December...
It turns out freedom ain't nothing but missing you,
Wishing I'd realize what I had when you were mine.
I'd go back to December, turn around and make it all right.
I'd go back to December, turn around and change my own mind
I go back to December all the time.
All the time.’
Once she was finished she looked out and said ”Thank you” and hurried off the stage as fast as she could. Hoping that she hadn’t just made the biggest idiot of herself.
