Quinn had come to the library – which was a change to her normal schedule, well it was for any kid at McKinley. This place was virtually always deserted and that was exactly the reason she’d come for, because she wanted some time alone and here was the only place in the entire school with a possibility of giving her that. So, as soon as the lunch bell rang she went straight to the school’s library and grabbed a couple of books. She may as well do some revision while she was in there, after all it was only the beginning of the year and she was already slightly behind on homework. The blonde had just got caught up in everything that had happened last week and it felt like she needed a break.
Though, the high school drama had already begun she had to say that she was enjoying it so far. She was on the cheerleading squad, which was an amazing feeling. She’d forgot just how good it felt to have people part when you walked down the corridors, to know that you were noticed and not invisible. Then, she’d sort-of made friends again with some people and Quinn had to admit she was glad that, some people didn't hate her anymore. She was most happy about what had happened between her and Max at the party though – the thought making her smile. Quinn had got everything she wanted back and although she was extremely glad about that, the blonde couldn’t help but keep thinking that she might lose it again. After all, she had the past two times and what was to say she wouldn’t mess up again? Especially with Max, since her emotions were already messed up.
She didn’t like that thought at all, so as soon as it came she pushed it out of her mind and sat down at the table in front of her, opening one of the books. Quinn tried to focus on the words, but her thoughts kept flying around her head. That was until someone’s quite whispering broke the silence of the library, causing the blonde to automatically focus on the real world and turn around to see who had spoken.

Mercedes had spent one of the most memorable summers of her life. Between spending time with her friends, Kurt and Sam, going to shop with Rachel, spending time with her family and practicing for the Glee cub and along with the choir; it ended up being epic. However, there was one thing that was settled in her mind and no one would make her change her mind and it was that she wanted a solo at either a Regional, Sectional or a National. She wanted to be a shining star and why not with Kurt too? Their voices put together always sounded so amazing; there were no way Mr. Shue wouldn’t offer them the time of their lives.
It was why at the lunch break, she went straight to the library to find partitions of singers she favoured; Beyonce, Leona Lewis, Tina Turner…She needed to find something that would impress and knock everyone out like she usually did while she was singing a solo in front of everyone and yet, never could she sing in front of a real auditory. She couldn’t hide she was mad over it but this year, she would make it to happen. Grabbing everything she needed in shelves, she quickly wandered out of these to find a table to sit at.
She walked around, but soon spotted something unfamiliar; Quinn sitting at a library. It was odd to see the popular girl studying, in a library but she didn’t say anything about that and smiled wanting to have a chat with her Glee companion. “Hey Quinn, can I?” she whispered wanting to know how the girl’s summer had been and she couldn’t hide that ever since that Barbeque that Santana had thrown, she wanted to know more about the guy she was seeing. A smile formed onto her lips as she waited for her friend to allow her to sit at the table; Mercedes would never impose herself, no matter how loud and opinionated she could be at times.

Dave was over the moon this year would be so much fun for him, he almost felt sorry for some of the losers in glee club. For two years he had tormented them from a far this year he would be doing it while saying nothing at all in the same room. His mere presence would be enough with a couple of them. His audition was over with and he had been doing some home work when he saw Mercedes from a far as he returned the book he had been using to the shelf. Pulling on his letterman jacket and doing the thing up he started to put his stuff back in his bag.
Now was the question did he destroy the black girls day or say nothing at all and just wave as he walked past them both. Lets not forget he would have to smile while he waved, of course he could just wave and smle as he approached them to tell them the amazing news. The only person he didn't really feel he needed to intimiidate or hurt but knew he would have to was Kurt. If he did nothing then it would be sending all kinds of wrong signals out to the resst of the group. The longer they were in the dark about him the better it would be for him that was for damn sure.
He turned the aisle to where he thought hey would be and approached quickly placing a smile on his lips he approached quickly. "Hello ladies, I just wanted to say I can't wait to work with you both. Its going to be fun." He said in the politest way he could.

Quinn was surprised to see Mercedes was the one who had talked to her, since they hadn’t really talked much since sophomore year. If she was honest, she felt kind of bad about that. Mercedes had given her a home when she wasn’t doing so good two years ago and then they’d basically ignored each other for the whole of junior year. So, the blonde smiled politely at the girl and sat back down. “Sure you can” She replied, still smiling. After all, it would be good to catch up with the brunette and get some communication going between them. Quinn had nothing against Mercedes and she did feel like they were friends, even if they didn’t talk that often. She waited for her friend to take the seat next to her, while she closed the book that was already open in front of her. The blonde really couldn’t focus, so there was really no point in even trying to study at all.
That was when she saw someone else approaching them and sighed in annoyance. So much for getting a break from the drama, Quinn thought as she saw exactly who was approaching the girls. Dave Karofsky, the guy who loved to make the blonde’s life an absolute misery and bringing her down when she felt remotely good about herself. She hated him so much it was unbelievable, every time she saw him she felt like punching him in the face. Though, she managed to control her anger and didn’t punch him today. "Hello ladies, I just wanted to say I can't wait to work with you both. Its going to be fun." The oversized football player said when he finally reached them both, with a smile on his face which made her roll her eyes. Then, she actually focused on what he said and was automatically confused. “Wait, what?”
[/b] She asked, not knowing what he meant by ‘work with you both’. [/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Mercedes smiled, happy that she would have a friendly chat with the blonde girl. She had to admit that she felt bad for not speaking to her much after the hard time that Quinn had had with her pregnancy at school. She had talked to her mother about that and she agreed to have her school friend at home so she would breathe more than if she was with either Finn or Puck. Not that she had anything against them but for a girl, it would be better to stay away from them for it would be a hard time and they wouldn’t understand it much, even if Finn seemed to be more understanding than what he appeared to be.
She nodded at Quinn and took a seat, placing her partitions right in front of her but soon, her smile disappeared as she saw Karofsky joining them, acting all friendly like while she knew that he was far from doing so. Sure, he did show some compassion and asked apologies to Kurt but that would never wash him away from what he had done not only to her best friend but to the Glee club in general. She wasn’t in the mood for another slushie.
She frowned, hearing his words; did she really heard that? Working with him? How the hell did he even find passion into singing. She knew that she wasn’t one who should judge people like this but having known Karofsky through the years, seeing him this friendly had to be suspicious. She would have to tell Kurt after Dave would explain the meaning of the sentence he just said. Hopefully she was hearing the wrong thing; she didn’t want to have a teammate like this in her club…well, it wasn’t her club but in her family. She tried to plaster the best fake smile she could onto her lips. “I couldn’t be more excited about it.” This just had to be wrong. “But could you tell us since when you decided that the club was interesting enough for you to join?” she asked not helping but sounding rude. Hell, she wasn’t going to let him in that easily. That guy was just like St.-James; nothing but evil.

Dave planted a big smile on his face, "Oh as of a liittle while ago I joined your little glee club, well I guess its our little glee club now but I joined none the less." Dave said to them. He looked at the black girl clear amusement written all over his eyes, he was joining because he could. Because the whole club would spend most of their time wondering when the other shoe would drop. The singing part was the side show for him, this was a bit of psychological warfare. The only person he wasn't interested in tornenting was Kurt, the one he would be most interested in making his life hell was Greg. Oh how that little shit was going to pay for his comments not to long ago. Dumpster dives here we come curtesy of the Football team.
"I would have thought that obvious Jones, I joined because I want to sing. No other reason that you need to know about right now is important." Dave said to her with a smile. "You could say that this is the start of a new era for me, I have turned over a new leaf and want a fresh start." Dave said to her. Actually he wanted to be close to the group that was the biggest threat to his secret. If one of them knew they'd use it, if that happened he wanted to be close to the group so retaliaton would be swift and completely mercilessly. He was the person people felt stone cold fear for when he walked down the hallways of this school. That would not change without him giving one hell of a fight. The girls would know he had a game plan, they wouldn't know what, they would just know he was up to something. "Anyway besides Schue your the first people to find out. Spread the news girls theirs a new satan in town." Dave added.

The blonde was shocked when she actually learnt that Dave had joined the Glee Club, but she didn’t show it. Since when had David been interested in singing or dancing or anything about the New Directions? Quinn could tell that there was something else going on behind his choice, because she knew how the mind of someone popular worked and you would never risk your reputation without a reason. She’d been there and the only reason she’d joined was to get Finn back, if he hadn’t joined then she wouldn’t have. So, she knew that Dave was lying when he said he joined because he ‘wanted to sing’. That was the moment Q decided that she was going to find out the real reason why he’d joined and she wouldn’t rest until she did, because the glee club was the only place where she felt safe and accepted. She couldn’t just let Dave walk in and ruin it all, after he’d made her life a living hell ever since her pregnancy two years ago.
“Mr. Shue actually let you join?!” She muttered, though that didn’t shock her that much since he was the accepting type but it felt a little like betrayal. Then, she cleared her mind of that and focused on the actual situation again. “So, you expect us to believe that you joined just because you want to sing?” She replied, a little louder than her mutter. “That’s the biggest load of crap I’ve ever heard.” Quinn said, putting on a fake smile. She was going to make David’s life in Glee as painful as he’d made her past two years. After all, she’d never managed to get revenge on him before and she had a feeling that she might just have a chance now he’d stepped into New Directions’ territory.

Mercedes could still barely believe the crap that Dave was giving to them. Really? Mister Shcue? How could he do something like that to them? Sure, he believed someone could change and all and gave second chances to people but him? She doubted he’d ever change. Did he ever know how many torments they had suffered from him? That was one crack of bullshit he was sending to them and she wasn’t going to let him in this easily. Sure, he was in the ‘family’ now but you always had the one member that anyone disliked and it was going to be him. He had always insulted the club, talked down on almost everyone in the club.
Because he wanted to sing? She couldn’t even believe that. She remembered, when the football team came along with them, to sing Michael Jackson’s Thriller remix they made; she had never seen Dave like it unless it was to play the game and win it. She rolled her eyes; they were the first ones to know? The news would certainly be spread quickly and disappoint everyone in the club. What a way to start the new year she thought sarcastically. A new satan in town? “I couldn’t say it better.” She muttered under her breath glancing at Quinn as she responded to Dave’s words.
Ah, she couldn’t say any better than what she had told him. It was her exact thoughts. She smiled at her friend before paying attention to her partitions trying to attempt to ignore the enemy. What did they say again about enemies? That it was better to have them on your side so you could see if they did something wrong? Or something in those lines.. She sighed, the fun they’ll have in the club she thought restraining herself from doing another eye roll.

Dave chuckled, "You guys still think everything I do is about you, I got a news flash for you ladies. I have no interest in either of you, you bore me now. The fun of slushieing the lowest of the low wore out last year. This is senior year baby, and that means a whole new list of rules to follow." Dave said to them. "After all to you guys I'm just the dumb jock, so if I was planning something it would stand to reason that you'd work it out." Dave said to them with a smirk.
"Face it as Lima losers you are doomed to circle the drain, that is the wastelands of the United states of America." Dave said to him. "We are going to have a ball of a time this year." Dave said to her. "I expect that the resident baby boomer and dumb blond will spend most of the next month trying to figure out the ball game. When she realises what that is, if she works out what that is. Just so you know footballs not for another few weeks, so try not to give any one a groin strain before the opening game Fabray." Dave said his eyes twinkling with malice one more.
Dave stood back to watch what happened next, he could have gone a lot further with the blond but he decided to draw the line at baby jokes. He could make those later on in the year if he wanted to. Their was no doubt in his mind that come the end of the year he would be out of this town for good. Which college he was heading to was immaterial, that said he was convinced that people like the two in front of him were doomed to appear on shows such as Jerry Springer.

Quinn rolled her eyes at the baby jokes, trying to hide how offended and slightly saddened she was. It had been two years ago, one stupid night and one stupid mistake, yet it still haunted her. There was not one day when she could just come to McKinley and not have someone make a joke about her pregnancy. So, she’d had plenty of practice at hiding her pain but that didn’t mean that the jokes and torments didn’t hurt. It was just something she’d been forced to get used to and she didn’t like it one bit, especially when the torments came from Dave. He was a complete ass and yet he still managed to make fun of her, before Quinn, Finn and Puck’s popularity went down the drain nobody even cared what Karofsky thought. Then, as soon as they joined the Glee Club suddenly he was one of the top dogs and she hated him for that.
“Listen Dave, if it didn’t occur to you I used to be popular, which means I know how people like you think and I know that you wouldn’t sacrifice your popularity just to sing.” She muttered, angrily. “So, I’m going to find out why exactly you’ve decided to join, because if you haven’t already heard there is nothing I do better than revenge.”
[/b] Quinn continued, looking up at the stupid football player her eyes and her voice both showing her annoyance and anger. She was going to get revenge on Dave for what he’d done to her, how he’d made her feel. [/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Post by Max Pennetta on Aug 20, 2011 18:24:36 GMT -5
All things considered, Maximilian Pennetta had not had a bad transition from city life into the farm town of Lima. Certainly, he would rather be sipping champagne on a yacht off the coast of California, but he was enjoying being a big dog in the pretty small Lima pool. He was already looking like a star on the Varsity football team, and had the hottest girl in the whole school, probably in all of Ohio, on his arm. Lima life might not have been what Max had dreamed of for himself, but he was settling nicely into the small town. It was only a matter time until he was virtually ruler of the school, and his kingdom would be ruled gloriously.
The previous weekend he had gone on a date with Quinn Fabray. A few of the neanderthals on the team had tried to talk him out of it, but he was not interested in hearing what kind of stupid excuse they had for him to cancel. Max knew that they were simply jealous that Quinn was a prize valued far too highly for any of them to even put a bid on. Normally when the California native went on dates, they ended with him sneaking out from under the covers and scurrying out the door before the girl's father got home. This date had been different. In fact, the two of them had not even kissed, which both excited and frustrated Max. The one girl at the whole school he would do anything to get his hands on, and she was strong-willed enough to hold out on a first date kiss. Of course, if Quinn gave in as easily as other girls, his interest probably would not be quite so piqued.
Max was planning to spend the lunch hour working out, rather than consuming fattening chicken nuggets and tater tots. Having scarfed down an energy bar, he changed into a pair of gym shorts and a cut-out sleeveless shirt, intent to warm up by braving the hot Ohio sun and running a few laps. As he passed the library, however, he paused upon recognition of a few voices. Poking his head in the door, his stomach boiled in slight jealousy for a moment as he saw Quinn chatting with an unidentified male. Once the male revealed himself to be Dave Karofsky, however, he relaxed, knowing that Quinn would never sink quite so low.
Still, the discussion between the two of them did not look entirely amicable. Max's jaw clicked as he watched the confrontation, quickly deciding that he had had quite enough. Making his way over to the trio, he grasped Dave's shoulder, forcing him to turn around and face the blond. "Is there a problem here, Dave?" he asked, his blue eyes intent and focused on the other boy, begging him to escalate the confrontation further. Dave might have a size advantage, but Max was certainly not afraid of him.

Mercedes had the urge to yell at Karofsky and to punch him straight and at the face. How dare did he call them losers while he was joining the club? She closed her partitions, glaring at him. Oh, he wouldn’t get it as easily as he thought. She may be the good girl and the one considering everyone as a family and all but he was slowly going above the standards of what was normally acceptable and endurable. He had no rights to call them that, and even less to taunt Quinn. She was her friend and he was going to get it for annoying her. Mercedes had always had a sense of protection when it came to friendship and people who were close to her, Quinn wasn’t an exception of these people even if their personalities were complete opposites.
However, it looked like the only-girls conversation would have to wait for Dave was obviously ruining it. Way to go, Karofsky she thought resting both of her hands on the table. Obviously annoyed by the arrogance; he was going to get it, and to get it hard back at his face, what he deserved and it would only be right. One day, he was going to have everything thrown back at him. All the insults, the torments and the way he had hurt every member of the Glee club. It was going to be back at his face for good. When? That was the question to be asked.
But really, the baby joke was simply and utterly low to do, even to Quinn. This was definitely something you shouldn’t laugh about and there he went, remembering this hard passage of her life. People were cruel; teenagers were cruel even more Karofsky and his abominable manners. Her hands turned into a fist as she tried to collect her anger but obviously failed.
However, the guy whom she had seen with Quinn the other day at the Barbeque appeared out of the blue to speak with Dave. She stood up and stayed by Quinn’s side. “How dare you joke about such a thing?” She snapped at Dave. “Calling us ‘losers’ is one thing, but the matters of a pregnancy should not be laughed about.” She added.

Dave laughed at Quinn, "See when you guys set up your, our little club, with the exception of Puck no one was really that scared of you." Dave said to him. "Sure they were scared of what you might say when you passed them in the hall way, but once you've met a cheerio bitch you have met them all." Dave said to her with a sneer. "I do hope you aren't thinking, that I'm actaully scared of you Fabray, that would be almost to blond even for a blond." Dave said to her.
Then the new guy arrived placing his hand on his shoulder and turning him. Well allowing himself to be turned was more apt, he smirked at the boy no worry or fear of being caught or anything for that matter in his stance. "No we were just having a friendly chat." Dave said to him. "Remove your hand Penny." Dave said to him politely. "That nickname might actually stick, Penny farthing, Penny no man kind of like billy no mates except for ladies." Dave said to him.
He turned back the girls and smirked at Mercedes, "The christian thing to do would be to walk away, just like the Christians teach don't open your legs for any body until you've got a wedding band on your finger." Dave said to her. He really couldn't help but think that if Quinn had it out for him, then nothing was safe. She'd go after his testies and he would just go for her jugular. "How is that kid of yours Fabray?" Dave said as he took two steps back eyes on Max. He delivered his final low blow on Quinn. "Oh wait you gave the bastard up, generally speaking if theirs something wrong with the bitch theirs something wrong with the Pup. And every body knows that Fabray is just a mutilated soul." Dave finished.
He'd turn his back and walk away, but if meat head was going to charge him. He'd have to do it the honorable way and hit someone from the front. He'd also have to take a couple of steps by which time he'd be ready.

Quinn couldn’t stop a smile from appearing when she saw Max appear and spin Dave around, he was actually sticking up for her? Hardly any of the boy’s she knew would do that for her, which just made her smile even brighter. They’d gone on a date about a week ago and it’d actually gone pretty well, she really did like him but had held out on the first-date kiss. After all, she didn’t want him to think that he could get her that easily and plus, she hadn’t forgotten that the best trick you could use with boys was to always want them leaving more. It was something she’d learnt quite a while ago and it always worked, so she always used it. Though, seeing him actually sticking up for her made her feelings for him even stronger.
That was when Mercedes’ voice brought her out of her thoughts and back to reality, which was why her smile faded slightly as she refocused. She was so lucky to have friends like she did, she realized that when Mercedes stuck up for the blonde as well. Glee club had changed her in so many ways, including the way she viewed people. As soon as Quinn and Mercedes had became friends and she realized what it was like to walk in her shoes, she’d automatically felt regret for everything she’d done and said to the brunette before she joined New Directions. She’d been such a bitch to virtually everyone in the school, especially most of the people she now called her friend and she couldn’t help but feel bad for what she had done to them. So, that’s why she’d try to change herself and become a better person for this year. If only Dave had done the same they wouldn’t be in this situation, but she didn’t care that much – she’d get her revenge. What was it people said, ‘every dog has its day’ or something like that? Well, she was going to get her day and she hoped it would happen sooner rather than later.
Quinn’s thoughts were broken again, but this time it was Karofsky’s voice that brought her out of her thoughts. Although, as soon as she heard what he had to say she wished she’d stuck to her thoughts. Yes, she knew he’d sunk quite low with that remark but he’d also hurt her more than she’d like to admit. A few tears began to pool in her eyes, but she tried her hardest to hold them back because the last thing she wanted to do was give Dave the satisfaction of her tears. So, she put her head down and faced the floor as a couple of tears trickled down her cheek. She hoped that if she faced the floor, then he wouldn’t see her crying. The blonde tried to pull herself back together, hoping that nobody else would see either.

Max had heard a fair amount of Dave Karofsky since joining the McKinley football team. He was a hell of a player, to be fair, capable of powering through a lot of other teams through sheer force and size. He was deemed relatively popular, although the blonde saw little evidence in terms of people actually liking him. Supposedly he had been named Prom King, so that should have meant something. However, this was a school in which a guy was elected Prom Queen, so it the voting student body was suspect. Dave was also known for his foul mouth and bullying antics. Most of his teammates found it more amusing than anything, save for the guys on Glee who were the recipients as often as not.
Max was not the shining prince in silver armor like Sam Evans; he had his own issues to deal with, so he could likely have turned a blind eye when Dave was making an ass of himself. He could have just shaken his head as the idiot did his best to ruin the life of that gay guy, as Max had heard. That, unfortunately, changed the minute the oaf turned his attention to the gorgeous Quinn Fabray. That Max could not allow. The wide receiver did not budge as Dave requested he remove his hand. He allowed it to remain for a moment, before shoving the other boy slightly. "Oh, yeah you're a real man, aren't you Dave? Picking on girls and gay guys, what's next, are you gonna go torment the Special Ed class? Or I heard there's a School for the Blind on the other side of town. Maybe you can go there to get your kicks."
Max was set to leave, not really wanting to get into a fight with someone this early in the school year, but his teammate just did not know when to shut up. This time going directly at Quinn with the lowest of potshots. Max took a deep breath for a moment, vainly trying to calm himself down, before deciding to let it out. Clenching his right hand, Max's fist soared through the air and toward Dave's face. And here he had been so intent to not revamp his bad boy reputation. Oh well, old habits die hard, as they say.
