One thing that Rachel Berry had learned from being in New Directions was to become more of a team player. It had taken her a long time to get used to not being the only star in the group and to see that two other people had the same passion for performing as she did - Mercedes and Kurt. After realising this, Rachel knew that the three of them shared an understanding and she had been thrilled when they had finally formed a friendship. Before Rachel knew it, she was thrown into a world of shopping trips and sleepovers and today was no exception.
With senior year just around the corner, Rachel and Mercedes had decided upon shopping. Well, it was implied that the short brunette could use some new additions to her wardrobe and Rachel agreed. She didn't see the harm in having a few different styles that steered away from her usual sweaters and dresses. She had made it clear to Mercedes that she wanted nothing as drastic as her last two make overs. One given to her by Kurt..and the other herself. Rachel grimaced slightly as memories of those times washed through her mind. Shaking her head clear, the brunette pushed the doors open to the mall and headed towards the arranged meeting point between the two divas. It wasn't as f she was trying to drastically change herself but Rachel wanted senior year to be memorable in a good way. For once, it would be nice if no-one commented on her clothing or if they did - it was because they were giving her a compliment. The young diva wanted this to be the year where she felt completed accepted by those around her, to feel like she fitted in with everyone and if that meant some new clothes, then Rachel was open to it.
Settling herself on the bench, Rachel rummaged through her bag to pull her cell out to send Mercedes a quick message to let her know she was at the mall. Once it sent, Rachel placed the phone back in her bag and crossed one leg over the other while she awaited Mercedes arrival. The brunette couldn't help but fear what she had gotten herself in for as she watched various people walking past each wearing completely different styles of clothing. Rachel took in a breath and told herself she was probably over reacting.

Mercedes was eager to spend some time with Rachel- before, it wouldn’t be like that for they were singing rivals, the girl was always having the spotlight and she wanted to change it however, it seemed that the girl finally understood that she, Mercedes Jones, had talent. It was a good start wasn’t it? No matter how many encounters they’ve had throughout the past years, they ended up bonding over a friendship that was going to be one of her closest along with Quinn, Kurt and Blaine. Besides, the last time she had talk to the girl was at the prom night, where she told to Rachel that she wanted a boy to tell her that she looked beautiful and that they actually meant it. She had the feeling that Rachel would understand more than anyone else when it came to that, even more than Quinn. You couldn’t deny, the ex-cheerleader captain was quite a beauty and she, Mercedes, looked rather weak next to her. She felt so messed up inside but something changed her, or more like someone. Ever since the prom night with Sam, Mercedes grew to accept herself more. Of course, she used to do so before that, wanting to be true to herself and all but she couldn’t hide that she was feeling lonely, seeing everyone bonding with others, being in couple and breaking out- though the breaking out part was rather sad. She simply wished for someone to love her for who she was and to respect her and Sam happened to be the one for now respecting her. She wouldn’t admit it right away but she was starting to have deeper feelings for him, she also feared Quinn’s reaction if she was to know for they were friends now. However, today she wasn’t going to worry about all of this; today was going to be one of these days she would spend shopping along with Rachel. She had managed to convince her that she should get new clothes and perhaps she would help her finding a new style. Mercedes loved doing that and shopping was one of the things she enjoyed doing with friends. She had been told by many people that she was good with styles, she was almost certain she could come out with something good for Rachel. It wasn’t going to be as drastic as Kurt’s once make over but she knew that it was to push Finn away while he was crushing on his new brother. She finally arrived at the mall, blinked as her phone vibrated and looked down at her purse to grab it. She smiled seeing that it was Rachel sending her a texto about being there already. She remembered their meeting point and walked faster than usual eager to meet her new friend. It didn’t take long before she spotted Rachel sitting on a bench. She waved at her happily before walking her way, arms open as usual. “Rachel! I’m so glad we get to shop together!” She squealed excitedly. Oh yes, money spending was going to be great! Maybe she could find something for Sam as a gift in the process, she’d have to think about that.

As time ticked on, Rachel was getting more and more worked up. The brunette diva knew it was stupid but here she was putting her life in someone's hand. Okay, so perhaps that's a little over dramatic she argued to herself but the girl had reason to doubt people when they tried to help her. Rachel knew she trusted people too easily and each time it had never worked out in her favour but deep down she knew Mercedes wasn't out to make her look like a fool, the two had moved on and formed a pretty strong friendship. Twiddling her thumbs, she nervously glanced at her phone. She had sent Mercedes a message not so long ago noting her friend off her arrival.
Just as she finished putting her phone away once again, Rachel's eyes fell upon the familiar form of Mercedes walking towards her. A grin spread across the small brunette's face as the girl walked towards her with open arms. Returning the wave, Rachel stood from the bench and waited for Mercedes to get close enough for her to accept the embrace. Falling into the open arms, Rachel gave her a slight squeeze before pulling away. A nervous laugh escaped from Rachel's mouth as her friend let out an excited squeal about their shopping trip. "M...me too" she stammered out as she motioned with her head for the two of them to start walking. As she took a few steps, Rachel dramatically paused mid-way and looked at Mercedes. "Okay, I know you'll probably go on at me for sounding like a broken record, believe me I've said it to myself but..just promise me you're not gonna make me go all sad clown hooker like again? I mean I know that was technically Kurt but you have to admit people giving me make-overs never seem to go so well" the brunette babbled out.

Mercedes was glad that Rachel agreed on changing her look. She had nothing against the girl and she wasn’t planning on turning Rachel into something she wasn’t but she thought that it was better for her to add a little touch of Mercedes magic before returning to school. It was going to be their last year here at school, they had to make it memorable and if they saw that Rachel could have style, perhaps the Glee club would gain in popularity. Of course, she wasn’t going to put this on an evil plan or anything, but she wanted her friend to feel comfortable into what she was wearing without looking like a grand-mother. She wasn’t going to play the same trick that Kurt had while trying to change her completely. It could’ve worked only if it was in her personality but it wasn’t and it was better that way. ‘Cedes couldn’t help but smirk and chuckle at Rachel’s words once she was done hugging her. Of course, she would like to state out what had happened with Kurt. She thought that Rachel knew her better, looks like she would have to prove the girl wrong. “Don’t worry hun, I promise and you got my word.” She said with a grin as she winked playfully at her friends. “I already have a few shops in mind that you might like, your look is fine but it needs a little more of my magic touch; you’ll see, after that, people will see an improved you.” She assured to her friend with a bright smile. Oh she simply loved doing makeovers to people. She knew it was going to be fun and Rachel would enjoy herself too if she was in the game. It was going to be a wonderful shopping spree spent with a fellow diva. How could that turn wrong? It would be one of the most perfect summer days if you didn’t count the moments she had spent with Sam of course. She smiled at the thought and soon returned her attention to Rachel. “Come I know where we should start first!” She exclaimed happily as she started leading the way around the mall. She stopped turning around making sure that Rachel was following her. “I need to get some new clothes too so it’s going to be fun!” She added happily.
