Evelyn was sitting in the food court along with her brother and a few of his friends and stared at the boys with a long sigh; she knew she wasn’t welcomed there and her brother did everything to make her feel unaccepted around his peers. Not that she wished to tag along with him; they had no choices. It was the trick that her parents found to leave them alone while they’d be busy fighting over only God knew what it was going to be about this time. She really felt out of space however, they completely ignored her, taking a snack; if she wanted something, she’d have to pay it herself. It was a good thing she brought her purse.
Her parents had forced her to tag along with him the entire time, none of the siblings were obviously happy with this. While she was busy looking at everything but herself, her brother was talking loudly, eying cute girls and talking about his nightstands with his friends. All of these were details she didn’t want to deal with. Why couldn’t she just stay at home and enjoy herself in her bedroom? She played with a lock of her hair looking bored out of her mind until her brother addressed a few words to her. “Look, I’m not happy about this, you’re not either, and for once I’ll be nice, go wherever you want, as long as you’re not with us.” She frowned, alone?! Where was she supposed to go?! Then again…being alone meant that she wouldn’t have to endure more of her unpleasant brother’s company. She thought it was a fine deal, for once.
She nodded her head, not speaking any more words before grabbing her purse and walking away like a good obedient little girl. She liked shopping, but the idea of shopping alone terrified her. What was she supposed to do now? Walking around stupidly without having anywhere to go in mind in particular or simply looking like a retard in the middle of the mall? She stopped along in her track before frowning even more; maybe it was a stupid idea to wander around all alone.
She felt so little in there, without having anyone to talk to; it almost felt like when she was at school, except with less people she could start a conversation with. That was bad. She held herself as she started walking over again, eying a few shops thinking that maybe she could try and get new clothes before school started over again, until she stepped onto one loose sheet someone threw, resulting her to gasp and hold onto the first person that was next to her. Wearing sandals in a mall wasn’t always a bright idea. She startled seeing what she had done and gasped ashamed of herself. “I-I-I’m sorry…” she stuttered blushing realizing that she had held onto a boy. She couldn’t see who it was but she had the feeling that she knew him, for now, all she could see was his back.
