Honestly, Evelyn didn’t know what the hell she was doing at the moment, on stage, going for the lead female. She was highly wondering about how Jesse had convinced her to go up on stage and crash a solo. She was so nervous; she wanted to die on the spot, almost regretting her choice on stage. Her body was trembling as she walked onto the stage and she took the time to take deep breathes. She was just auditioning in front of the group...there weren’t any big deals right? RIGHT? Her cheeks were burning red from embarrassment as she approached the microphone, staring all the pair of eyes that were staring at her. This wasn’t going to end good this wasn’t going to end up good... No matter how much she had prepared herself, she just couldn’t bring herself to do it.
Her song selection was unique; she wanted to blow them off. She wanted to make something unique, that no one had heard before and to prove them that she indeed belonged to Vocal Adrenaline. It was why she had chosen a song from Phantom of the Opera, Think of Me. She even got dressed like Christine for the occasion, wanting it to be perfect. The only thing that lagged was probably her lack of self confidence.
She played nervously as she stared at Jesse, remembering that he told her to look at him whenever she was scared or nervous. “Hum, hello...my name is Evelyn Blunt and I would like to become the lead girl, I will be performing Think of Me by The Phantom of the Opera...I hope you will enjoy..” she tried hard not to stutter.
She took a deep breath as the music began and she began singing shyly, yet managed to do it.
“Think of me, think of me fondly,
when we've said goodbye.
Remember me once in a while -
please promise me you'll try.
When you find that, once again, you long
to take your heart back and be free -
if you ever find a moment,
spare a thought for me
We never said our love was evergreen,
or as unchanging as the sea -
but if you can still remember
stop and think of me . . .
Think of all the things
we've shared and seen -
don't think about the way things
might have been . . .
Think of me, think of me waking,
silent and resigned.
Imagine me, trying too hard
to put you from my mind.
Recall those days
look back on all those times,
think of the things we'll never do -
there will never be a day,
when I won't think of you . . .”
She was singing softly, yet softly, she had been practicing this song for so long, she thought it was the best time to sing it, so there she went, trying to only look at Jesse. It wasn’t all hard to do and she was hoping to do well.
“Flowers fades,
The fruits of summer fade,
They have their seasons, so do we
but please promise me, that sometimes
you will think of me!”
The high notes at the end were the hardest, but it was one last shot and she had faith she could do it. She held the notes as long as she could, before the song was done...well, it wasn’t as bad as it seemed to be. She took a deep breath when she was over before looking back at the crowd. “T-thank you.” She said restraining herself from fainting of nervousness.
