It was summer time in Lima, Ohio. It was a very hot day to be exact, and sitting in a cramped motel room was bound to make anyone spending time in there sweat. Sam was happy to say, he was able to go do something in his free time. Ideas popped into the blondes head until he decided he needed to do something that wouldn't actually cost money. Sam let out a soft sigh as it limited his choices of things to do. Sam finally thought going for a run would be the best thing to do. He hadn't worked out, and was starting to hate himself because of it. Sam hopped off the cot he was sitting on and walked over to his closet where he put on his shoes. Sam walked over to the door, placing his hand on the door knob. "Ma, I'm going for a run. I should be back later." He called out, as he walked out the front door.
Sam started his jog around the park, then he passed the school. Sam was slowly nearing the town. Sweat was dripping down his body and he felt his body was slowly aching. Sam stopped running and begun walking, to the nearest bench he could find. As he walked to the bench, and sat down as he noticed a familiar face in town.

Who's brilliant idea was it to go for a bike ride in the summer heat? Oh yeah, Greg's idea. Still it was better than pricing things for a garage sale that his mother was hastily setting up, the goal was to have the sale in two weeks. There would be enough time to get things ready. At least the house wasn't as bad some that were seen on 'Clean House'.
The ride from the house to school was about a half mile one way. There wasn't a need for two bottles of water, especially since one was frozen with some thawing action going on. As he approached the school there was a blond guy sitting on a bench. Greg thought he had seen him at school but what was his name?
Saul?
Sulu?
Sampo?
Sam! That was it!! Greg had heard the guy was living at a motel with his family. That was an idea Greg couldn't even think of happening!! He thought he might as well be sociable. He peddled the short distance to the bench before dismounting. He held out one of the bottles of water to Sam.
"Water? It seems my mother thinks we live in the Sahara Desert and I'll dehydrate to nothing." He smiled along with a little laugh.

Sam turned to look at the guy handing him water. "Thanks," He said as he accepted the water giving him a small laugh at what he said. Sam brought the water bottle to his lips drinking as much water as possible. Sam was thirsty, since he forgot his water bottle at home.
Sam didn't say anything for a while and there was some silence between the boys. Sam was really taking some time to figure out who the guy next to him was. That's when it hit him, they were in spanish together. They never actually spoke since they were in two different worlds, and hung out with different people. "I'm Sam." He told the boy, pretty sure he knew exactly who he was. All of McKinley knew very well who Sam Evans was because, Jacob Ben Israel outed Sam to the whole school by telling them his secret. Which consisted of the Evans family living in a motel.

"No problem, looks like you've been out here for awhile." Greg replied taking a quick drink of his own water. Greg had experienced some hot summers back in New York but this one was seeming to be the topper of them all, at the moment anyway.
It seemed like minutes had passed before Sam introduced himself. "I'm Greg." He would have offered a hand but the heat and cold water, things could be clammy. "I thought I knew you, sort of, from Spanish class taught by Mr. Shu." He was a bit nervous about mentioning the glee club. "I heard he runs the glee club as well, I was hoping to run into him and see about joining it."

Sam nodded his head. "Yeah, I was out a while." Sam told him giving him a smile, wiping some sweat dripping down his face. "I have to keep myself entertained. I'm broke, so there's not much to do." Sam said with a shrug, and sipped some more water. Living in Lima was nothing compared to the summers in Tennessee, the heat there was always unbearable.
"It's nice to meet you." Sam said, smiling at the boy sitting next to him. Sam nodded his head. "Yeah I was in that class with him. He's an awesome teacher." Sam said as a lame attempt to have a conversation. Sam almost felt awkward talking to Greg since he barely knew the kid. Sam eyes grew wider as he said something about Glee. Sam knew they were still in need of members and knew he would do his best to get some new members. "Yeah he does. You should join, it is really cool. We don't sing show tunes which is good because I don't know any." Sam spoke as he bit down on his lip. "When school starts I can take you to the first glee meeting and you can join." Sam told him hoping he'd accept his offer.

Being broke was something Greg couldn't even think of happening, but with today's world anything was possible. "Not to be giving a pep talk but something will happen and things will turn around. I've seen it happen to friends back in New York."
Maybe it was the heat or some weird weather factor, but there was an uncomfortableness with the school conversation, at least until glee was mentioned. "That would be awesome!" If it had been cooler out, Greg might have bounced for joy but this was not going to be the case. "It helps me to know there'd be one person rooting for me." He laughed.
"You probably do know some show tunes but not realize it. I mean all you have to do is watch any animated Disney movie and voila, show tune right there."

Sam listened to his words of advice. He knew very well things would get better, and was hopeful. But Sam was slowly losing his faith in things will be better. It's now junior year for him and things haven't looked up since he moved into the motel. "I hope your right, dude." Sam said giving him an optimistic look.
Sam smiled as he looked over at Greg. "Everyone in glee is like one huge family." Sam spoke of the people in glee. "Everyone is just there for you." Sam continued, thinking back to when people found out that Sam was broke and living in a motel. He was getting Kurts, old clothes and even got help from Quinn. Sam was just grateful to have friends to go out of there way for him. "I'm sure you will get tons of support you need,"
Sam thought for a moment biting down on his lip. "I guess I have. But I didn't think those count." Sam said with a shrug.

"Just keep hoping for good things and don't give up, that would be the worst thing you could do." Greg had learned that at an early age, maybe now was the time to spread the wisdom.
The more he was hearing about the glee choir, the more he liked it. "I wondered about that, I know sometimes there are those that get this 'I'm better than you' attitude toward new people." Although Greg knew he could offer a lot to the choir. It would be a matter of proving himself to the others.
"Sure you can count those, I mean after all four of the movies have been adapted to the stage, so why not?" Greg said, when talking about show tune. "Course any more everything is becoming a show tune."

Sam nodded his head at the advice. He really liked it, and knew that Greg was right. He knew was right. In time everything would fall into place. "I know, I'll try to be."
"Well yeah, there are a few people who think they are better then everyone else in glee. But it's not that bad." He said shrugging it off. "I try not to let some peoples egos get in the way of my fun." Sam told him, letting him know not everyone in glee thought they were better than everyone else. "I really hope you join."
"Stage?" Sam asked with a lot of confusion. He wasn't sure if he was talking about Broadway.
