[/img] Closing the door to the house behind her, Sapphire Lewis walked quickly. 'Don't be late,Don't be late' she repeated to herself, her pace quickening as she glanced at her watch. The coffee shop was at least ten minutes away and that was when she was lucky. If she wasn't lucky, cars would get the right away and she would have to wait for the annoying little sign thingy to change.
Today was her second date(at least that was what she called it in her head, she called it a 'friendly meeting' out loud) with Ryan McKnight, and she was so flippin' excited and Sapphire Lewis didn't get excited for anyone. You had to be the flippin' President if you even wanted to get a bouncing foot. But the girl had all the symptoms of second-dateitis as she crossed the street: She fidgeted with her hair, she straightened her outfit, and she made sure she looked pretty.
She bounced across another intersection and smiled as the coffee shop came into view. Almost there... almost there. Her smile widened as she grew close enough to read the sign and the smile almost split her face as she entered the coffee shop. The warm, cozy place had always been a hangout for the Gleeks and Sapphire had studiously made sure that none of them would show up and interrupt her well-planned 'friendly meeting'.
She got into line and quickly ordered coffee for both her and Ryan. Paying, she balanced the cups nervously and crossed over to a booth, placing the coffee cups next to each other. Sitting down, she sat down and scooted over until her shoulder was against the wall. Putting her clutch down on the table, Sapphire waited for Ryan and for her second date to officially begin.

stop there and let me correct it , i wanna live a life from a new perspective Ryan walked a steady pace being that he didn't live that far from the coffee shop. This is was the second time he was going to meet up at the coffee shop with Sapphire, not that there was anything going on with them two. Ryan was probably twice her age, he was her teacher, she was his student. There was just so much wrong with the sentence that he always repeated to himself when it came to Sapphire and a lot of the female population of McKinley. Ryan wasn't blind for crying out loud, he knew there were very beautiful girls at the school which included Sapphire in that group, but they were just that. They were all simply put, girls and he was a grown adult man.
Ryan saw the sign for the coffee shop and sighed. Something deep in him said he shouldn't be here, people could probably see and ruin everything. False accusations can arise and then his job is done. Ryan wasn't going to risk his career for anyone; however when it came to Sapphire she was just a lost soul and he was going to help her find herself. Sapphire was someone who needed the guidance and Ryan knew how that was. He needed someone to pave the way every now and again, no one was there for him so maybe he can help someone else.
After walking in, Ryan finally looked down at himself, something he should have done when he left his house. Black biker leather jacket since the months changed and school weather was creeping, it was time to break out the jacket. White form fitting v-neck t-shirt, dark blue boot cut jeans that was slightly tight for his own liking and his black boots. Ryan paid for the coffee and ran his hands through his brown hair, his blue eyes scanning for Sapphire when he spotted her in a booth. Her shoulder plastered to the wall, she was nervous. Ryan chuckled to himself and walked over to the booth.
"That's a lot of coffee for just one girl you know..." Ryan spoke, once again and unconsciously, his country accent flowing from his speech. Smiling brightly with his pearly white teeth, Ryan stood straight and shoved his hands into his jeans pocket like always. "Mind if I sit with you young lady?" Ryan asked politely while laughing.

She heard the tinkle that meant someone was arriving but she didn’t bother to look. After the first ten times of jumping nervously, Sapphire had given herself a slap in the face and told herself to calm down. But what did alert her to Ryan’s presence was the sound of his footsteps. She smiled lightly and laughed, gesturing towards the space beside her.
"Go on ahead… I don’t bite" She sent him a wink with those words. She let her eyes travel his form. In a leather jacket and a pair of black boots, Ryan McKnight couldn’t look more cute.
No he wasn’t cute… he was smoking hot. Taking a sip of her coffee, Sapphire winced as the hot liquid burned her tongue. Wrinkling her nose, she put the coffee cup back on the table again.
An old pop song could be heard playing through the overhead speakers and Sapphire hummed along with the words, her eyes focusing absentmindedly on the table ahead of her.
"So how have you been"she asked, raising her eyes to look at him, forgoing all humming to pay attention to him. It was a formality. She knew it was. She talked to him every two days and now that she was sitting here formalities seemed trivial. She gave him a smile as she waited for a reply.

stop there and let me correct it , i wanna live a life from a new perspective Ryan slid into the booth, smirking unconsciously. The booth benches weren't that bad, he might have to get something like this for his car. His mind wandered off into another world until he heard Sapphire humming. His focus went onto the song, was that an old Shania Twain song? Why did he even know it was Shania? Ryan chuckled and looked up at Sapphire, chuckling to himself when she winced. He didn't laugh at her because she might have possibly burned her tongue, but because she was incredibly nervous and its not like it was a date where she should be nervous. It was just casual coffee.
Ryan's eyes noticed Sapphire's were somewhere else, trying to avoid his at all costs. Shaking his head slightly, Ryan inhaled and shrugged at her question of how he was. Ryan was the same as two days ago when she asked him that question. "I'm good. Working on the class outline for English, reading the books and all the usual crap that you guys are going to have to do this year" Ryan started before moving his hand in a circular motion as if he were trying to re-word the statement. "when I say you guys I mean my class and poor Crystal you've employed to do your work" he joked.
Ryan slipped out of his leather jacket, inside this coffee shop was hot as hell. This summer he had been working out more, it was a hit with the ladies and well who is Ryan to turn down the attention he could return just as easily to a woman? Clearing his throat, Ryan spoke. "What about you? How's home? How are you?" Ryan asked nicely. He was genuinely worried and concerned about Sapphire as he would any other student who says they come from a broken home. Ryan had done his research with Ms. Pillsbury who happened to confirm that Sapphire's family isn't the best in the world. Shaking some of the shaggy brown hair from his face he looked back up at Seph. "I mean I know you're alive I meant like...mentally and all that good stuff" Ryan added with a smile before reaching out and grabbing the extra cup of coffee and slowly sipping.

[/img] He really did make good jokes. Laughing lightly, she shook her head. "I’ve always felt sorry for the poor girl… but I didn’t use her, I used Lianne Jenkins" she replied. Crystal had always been overworked, doing her own homework plus that of the ones whose grades depended it on her doing their work. But their grades wouldn’t depend on it if they would just do it themselves. She was so nervous and she shouldn’t have been. Taking a few calming breaths, Sapphire focused on the conversation. How were things at home? They were just- she couldn’t say great, because she would be lying to herself."Mom is the same and the house is clean" she replied, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear before continuing. "I went shopping yesterday and brought groceries and-" she paused and her hand went up to touch her headband. "I also went to my favorite clothing store and brought this" she finished, smiling at him.
"It’s nice to have something new" she mused, shrugging lightly."I even bought Mom some new sweatpants." The sweatpants had been from a moment of sympathy because the last pair had been ruined from a particularly bad drinking session. Picking her coffee back up, she took a sip, a small sigh of relief slipping out as she realized it wasn’t as hot.
"So what books are we reading this year" She quizzed, tilting her head curiously.

stop there and let me correct it , i wanna live a life from a new perspective Ryan tried to put a name and a face together. Lianne Jenkins? Shaking his head, Ryan chuckled and sighed. "Yeah well you shouldn't have to use anybody. Like I keep telling you Seph, you're very smart. Stop relying on the popular nature and pretty girl looks to get you by..." he said. Ryan didn't really care if she caught on to him calling her a pretty girl, because he wasn't blind of course she's pretty. Ryan slowly slipped on the coffee and listened on.
He noticed the small hesitation with Sapphire, the small piece of her that knew her life was still as messed up as it was last time they spoke, but she was desperately searching for something to be the silver lining to report on. Ryan nodded and listened on as she spoke about how her mother was still the same. It broke Ryan's heart, no one should have to endure the drunken parent, let alone believe they were the cause of that parent's mistake. "At least she made the attempt to clean. And you made sure there was food in the house so, that's always a plus to any kind of bad side. You've got something to survive on" Ryan spoke while he saw he smile and point to her headband on her head. That was one fashion statement he'll never get, but he chuckled and smiled as she beamed about it "Its nice. It won't look good on me, but its nice on you" he spoke.
Ryan cleared his throat as Sapphire said she bought her mom some new sweatpants. Even though the wide eyed brunette knew she hated her life, Ryan knew that deep down inside she cared for her mom and there was nothing different about that. Regardless of what happened and possibly how much Seph would more than likely say she only did it so she could have a parent and not be on her own, Seph loved her mother. Then she turned her attention to what they would be learning this year and Ryan smirked "Thinking of a head start on those papers?" Ryan joked. Shaking his head, Ryan looked down at his hands before speaking and shrugging. "I could make it easy and just make you guys read the whole Twilight series but even I wouldn't want to make you guys go through that. I don't see valuable class time be a debate on Team Edward or Team Jacob." Ryan joked once more "In all seriousness, I'm debating if we should cover Shakespeare this semester.".

[/img] Pretty girl? So he thought she was pretty. “No it wouldn’t” she said, a laugh escaping her lips. Sapphire listened as he talked about the silver lining in her life. If there was one. But she knew there was one, after all she had gotten a new headband, hadn’t she and it looked good on her, didn’t it?
The house was clean and she had food so she wouldn’t starve and even after that, she had made sure that her mother had gotten enough alcohol to last a month because if Mariska Smart didn’t have alcohol, she got violent. And a violent Mariska meant a very made-up Sapphire and that applied any day or month of the year. Give Mom the beer and no one gets hurt. Sapphire wrinkled her nose at the mention of Twilight. Of course, originally, she had liked the book yet the entire thing had been blown out of proportion because of the screaming fan girls.
She had to admit that Kristen Stewart made a very good Bella and Taylor Lautner made a very hot Jacob but she could have done without the craze that was Twilight. Shakespeare? Now that was something she could get interested in. Well that and the Hunger Games. Romeo and Juliet? A Midsummer’s Night Dream? Both of those were some of her favorite classics and even though she wouldn’t bother to admit it aloud, she was a big history buff. She loved anything to do with the past. It was just so…normal. Being able to connect the dots, that is. There was nothing normal about King Arthur or The Renaissance.
‘Oh Romeo, wherefore art thou?” a small laugh escaped her lips as she portrayed Juliet and she smiled lightly. “I wouldn’t mind that at all” she told him, her smile widening.

stop there and let me correct it , i wanna live a life from a new perspective Ryan looked up with a smirk on his face. So Sapphire knew the classics like Romeo and Juliet. It was a classic love story of two star crossed lovers who couldn't be because of a war keeping their families as enemies and the children far from one another. Its funny how that book always gets covered in classes, especially in television. "Very impressive Seph, maybe now you can do your own work" he spoke with a dramatic gasp for kicks and giggles. Shaking his head and laughing, he played with the top of the coffee cup.
"I don't know. I feel like the classic stuff is always done. Its even been done on television so much, I roll my eyes when the teacher says they're going to do the story, so imagine how the rest of the class would feel knowing they have to endure the book" Ryan rationalized. Was he ready for the moans, groans and disappointment of the students when they didn't understand nor really care about the story? All they'd want to do is watch the movie with Claire Danes and Leo DiCaprio in it. Swords became Desert Eagle silver guns, the whole movie lost a lot of purpose when it became modernized. "I personally think Finn isn't ready for all the words just yet. Maybe its time for something more...up to date to get covered. Something new you know?" he spoke.
Books upon books ran through his mind. Maybe some Edgar Allen Poe or Maya Angelou but even that didn't shine in his mind. And then he remembered when his niece started getting into Young Adult fiction books. Sure she was into Twilight, but she was also into books like Harry Potter, The House of Night Series and then one series clicked to him since he read the books once before. "Maybe something like...The Moral Instruments or 'The Infernal Devices series" Ryan spoke a loud. His eyes met Sapphires and he smiled a bright smile. "Its a book series in Young Adult my niece read two years back. Its got a lot to do with the stuff like in the Underworld movies. There's Shadowhunters, werewolves, faeries, warlocks. It has challenges and love. Its a really good series" Ryan said "There's four books, we could easily breeze through the books in a school year" Ryan shrugged before sipping his coffee.

[/img] A laugh escaped her lips… He wasn’t going to let that go was he? But Sapphire didn’t really care, she knew it was his way of reminding her that she should (and knowing how much influence he had on her: would) do her own class work. Sapphire had never been one for movie adaptations, they always seemed to ruin everything by taking a perfectly good tale and transforming it into something like a poorly made horror film.
She chuckled internally at her thoughts and took a sip of her coffee. The bitter drink was starting to get cold and Sapphire knew that if she didn’t drink it soon, she would be stuck with cold coffee for the rest of the date.
Finn? Giant Books? That was a laughable thought. Finn was probably still reading on a third grade level… Well, that was a slightly mean comment but Seph had never been known as nice.
Her mind focused on her fellow Gleeks before she could stop herself. Out of all of them, her favorite would have to be Brittany Pierce because everybody did better with a little Brittany cheer in their day, right? And Brittany bought cheer to everyone, it didn’t matter if you were popular or unpopular.
Her mind snapped back to Ryan as he spoke. The Mortal Instruments? She loved that series as well. Clary Fray was an awesome heroine and Jace?
Psssht…. Don’t even mention Jace because Sapphire Kyle could be a rabid fangirl if she felt like it. She tried not to beam at the thought of reading one of her favorite series. “Can we really” she quizzed, not really able to avoid the excitement seeping into her tone.

stop there and let me correct it , i wanna live a life from a new perspective Ryan looked up with a smirk on his face, this seemed to be a habit around Sapphire. His blue eyes gleamed with joy "Wait, so you actually know that series? I thought my niece was the only one into it. Its actually really good, no matter how much they want to destroy that and make it into a movie too..." Ryan added.
The Mortal Instruments series was a book series of currently four books. It was full of twists and turns unlike any other book in the Young Adult series he had been told of. Other ones bored him, but this one was good. Red headed Clary Fray who was just a regular human with a power unlike others who falls for something kind of like forbidden fruit in Jace Wayland. He sounded like a hormonal teenage girl. "I like the story with the tortured background kind of. Not so much the character but the story of fighting for love. Plus I like the supernatural crap so add that and its a pretty good book" Ryan joked. It was true, even though he actually didn't like Twilight with a horrifying passion. Shaking his head once again he sighed and spoke "I thought we'd do something...not done before. I'm sure Shakespeare won't be mad." Ryan shrugged before looking into his cup.
His coffee got cold, he hated cold coffee if it wasn't intentionally iced. His eyes squinted, throat tightening, that bitter taste seeping into his mouth as if he actually did drink the coffee. Ryan scrunched his nose and shook his head, lowering the cup from him and pushing it away. "I'll pass on cold coffee. Its just wrong unless its intentionally iced. It once was hot, I'll pass..." Ryan spoke a loud.

[/img] Fighting for love?
Sapphire had always been a very sappy romantic and the whole ‘forbidden romance’ thing was like her favorite type of romance. She didn’t know why but it was probably because of the fact that it was just so…forbidden.
She’d always found people dying for each other morbidly sweet but that was just what she thought. Sappy sweet romantic comedies made her gag and raunchy ones? Bleh, her favorite love story of all time was ‘Titanic’ and nothing has ever matched it before.
Taking another sip of her coffee, which was getting colder by the second, Seph wrinkled her nose and placed the cup on the table, sliding it as far away from her as possible, her tongue poking out between her lips.
She shook her head irritably. “I never want to see that movie ever” she said, rolling her eyes at the thought of the movie. “It’s one of my favorite series.” Sapphire laughed. “Do you want some more coffee” she asked, tilting her head curiously.

stop there and let me correct it , i wanna live a life from a new perspective Ryan laughed at Sapphire's comment about not wanting to see The Mortal Instruments be made into a movie. He couldn't blame her, with movies they focus more on the excitement factor than the actual story and the story alone was amazing enough to follow. "I have to agree with you on that one. Movies make you lose the meaning of the story." Ryan added.
Apparently it was one of Sapphire's favorite series. Ryan mentally nodded at himself, taking note of the tidbit of information he just received. Quite honestly he always wanted to make sure he could connect to his students. Read a book with words they'd have to translate or make it where Finn and others who just didn't like big words would have to understand or a new book that's practically a world of fun? Option two for the win Bob. "I guess I just don't want something that has potential to be a classic to be ruined. Sue me" Ryan shrugged.
Shaking his head quickly, Ryan groaned Oh no, I do not need any more coffee in my system. I won't sleep, I'll be jittery and then I'd have to like...run ten miles just to get tired." he protested. Ryan wasn't big on too much coffee, solely for that main reason. He'll pass on the coffee. No need to put everyone through the torture of a hyper Ryan.

[/img] This is why she went for boys (and girls) who read. They were simply so knowledgeable and seemed to be able to keep up with her fast-paced mind. So the person, named Ryan McKnight, who happened to be sitting right in front of her, was probably her perfect match. And Sapphire Lewis was giddy at the thought. She shook her head quickly and smiled lightly at the smell of her coconut shampoo.
Yum… Pina Coladas… and whoever said they were virgin?
With all the liquor in the house it was hard not to have something to drink every once in a while… she just didn’t come to school with hangovers… she had kinda developed an immunity to them, including her mother’s. Wiping up vomit only could last for so long before Seph had snapped… and when she did, the girl had developed her patented hangover cure. She snapped herself back on task. She really did have the attention span of a moth.
“A lot of the girls that used to do my homework before I settled on Lianne knew about the series” Seph paused and took another sip of her coffee. “You could say the third one turned me onto the series.” She blushed as her choice of words entered her mind. “I’m a big supernatural fan myself” she continued on, the blush slowly fading from her face. “I love the Maximum Ride series as well.” A thought occurred to her as she smiled happily. “Ya know Shakespeare includes the whole ‘fighting for love’ thing in a lot of his stories” she contemplated, glancing down at the table.
“So what age were you when you decided you wanted to be a teacher” Seph quizzed, tracing a pattern on the faded wood.

stop there and let me correct it , i wanna live a life from a new perspective Sapphire spoke about different series, one he hasn't heard of. Ryan made a mental note of the series and decided to suggest it to his niece and check it out himself."I know Shakespeare uses that theme as well, but apparently you weren't paying attention when I said I was giving him a break because he's so overused.." Ryan added with an amused chuckle.
Sapphire asked Ryan when did he want to be a teacher. Stopping to think, he really didn't have an exact answer for that. Instead Ryan sighed, ran his fingers through his hair and began to speak "I honestly don't know when I wanted to be a teacher. I originally want to be this famous singer...rock star kind of guy I guess" Ryan shrugged. "When I turned eighteen, I told my dad I was going to New York instead of the Army like he wanted me to. You know...follow the footsteps and all that" Ryan recalled, his fingertips sliding around the rim of the cup of his cold coffee he wasn't drinking as he remembered what happened in his life.
"I went to New York and after a year I decided I wasn't made for the city. I applied for University of Ohio and just went into Liberal Arts before deciding on English as a major" Ryan said as his eyes slid up from the table up at Sapphire who seemed so interested in his story. "I didn't start teaching until after my engagement fell through, I decided it was time to actually put my degree to a good use" Ryan laughed.

[/img] An embarrassed snicker escaped her lips. “Oops” she said, blushing lightly. She had the attention span of a moth sometimes and it only got worse with time. Sapphire had correct herself sometimes so she could remember things.
Rock Star Singer? Wow, she had not seen that coming at all. A light went on inside her head and she grinned.
"Maybe Mr.Schue will put you in New Directions" she teased, a smile appearing on her lips. Her eyebrows furrowed at the mention of his father wanting her to go into the Army. It was a disconcerting thought really. She didn’t want Ryan to do anything that would put him in danger. Engagement? Her thought processes halted right there. She hadn’t expected for him to have an ex-fiancée. She would have thought he would have a couple of serious girlfriends but not a fiancée. "What was her name" she quizzed, tilting her head to the side.
